Another method is to use blast furnace slag as crushed stone in the concrete production process, but this approach is not ideal. Research shows that blast furnace slag-cement composite cementitious materials have almost identical performance to cement, exhibiting many superior properties. This method not only solves the problem of blast furnace slag utilization but also reduces environmental pollution caused by blast furnace slag accumulation and cement production. Therefore, research on blast furnace slag-cement composite cementitious materials has become one of the hot topics in cement research both domestically and internationally.

II. How to Improve the Utilization Effect of Blast Furnace Slag in Cement:

The amount of slag added significantly affects the strength of the final slurry. Researching the slag addition can maximize its utilization and produce the best-performing slag-cement composite cementitious material. Different slag additions correspond to different properties of the slag-cement composite cementitious material. A small amount of blast furnace slag (GGBS) in cement slightly increases the compressive and flexural strength of the material. As the slag content increases in cement production, its compressive strength decreases slightly in the early stages. When slag accounts for 70%–80% of slag cement, the later flexural strength is basically similar to that of polycarbonate (PC).
